Rick Hanson, PhD, is a psychologist and Senior Fellow of the Greater Good Science Center at UC Berkeley, best known for books such as Buddha's Brain, Hardwiring Happiness, Resilient and Neurodharma. His work blends modern neuroscience with contemplative practices drawn from Buddhist psychology, presented in a secular, evidence-based framework aimed at a broad general audience.
He currently teaches mainly online, through weekly Wednesday meditation-and-talk sessions, structured online courses on his own platform, and the Being Well podcast; recent offerings include the six-week course "The Science of Changing Your Mind" starting August 2026. No in-person retreats with a confirmed physical location were found on his current calendar.
