Paths Are Many is a signpost, not an authority. This page explains how the site is made and who makes it, so that you can weigh what you find here for yourself.

Who makes this site

Paths Are Many is published by The Inner Journey, a small company based in the Netherlands. In practice the site is built, written and edited by one person, Jan.

It belongs to no tradition and speaks for none. No teacher, school or organisation listed here has any ownership of or say in the site, and none is a client of The Inner Journey.

How teachers are chosen

There is no application process, and no one is nominated. I choose the teachers listed here myself.

What I look for is the depth and integrity of a teacher's work, a body of teaching that is genuinely available to people, and a range across traditions wide enough that a visitor meets more than one way of seeing. Some teachers are widely known, others are not. Being absent from this site means only that I have not yet reached them, or have not been able to learn enough to write well about them.

No teacher has paid to appear here, and no one can buy their way into the selection or into a more prominent place. On how the site is paid for, and how that may change in future, see Money below.

Being listed is not an endorsement

This matters, so I want to be plain about it.

A profile on this site means that I judged a teacher's work worth knowing about. It does not mean I have practised with them, that I vouch for them personally, or that I can speak to how they conduct themselves with students. I have no way to verify such things, and I do not claim to.

Choosing a teacher is a serious matter, and it asks for your own discernment. Read widely, speak with current and former students, ask direct questions, and pay attention to how you are treated. Trust your own sense of things over any description you read here.

How profiles are written

Profiles are written from publicly available sources: a teacher's own website and published material, interviews, books, recorded talks, and reputable public writing about their work.

I use AI tools to help gather material and prepare first drafts. Every profile is then read through and checked by me before it is published. I do this because AI-assisted text can be fluent and wrong at the same time, and a person's life and teaching deserve better than that.

Where sources disagree, or where something is uncertain, I would rather say so than smooth it over.

Contacting teachers

Wherever I can find a way to reach them, I write to teachers or their organisations to let them know a profile exists, and to invite corrections. I would much rather be asked questions than have a profile appear without a teacher's knowledge.

Corrections and removal

If anything on this site is inaccurate, out of date, or worded in a way a teacher or their organisation would like changed, tell me and I will correct it quickly.

If a teacher would prefer not to be listed at all, I will remove the profile. No explanation is needed and none will be asked for.

The same applies to photographs. Images are used with permission or under their published terms, and any image will be removed on request.

Events

The wish behind this site was a calendar: one place to see what teachers around the world are actually offering, instead of visiting a hundred separate websites to find out.

That part of the site is still growing. Where events are listed, the teacher's own website remains the authoritative source for dates, prices and booking, and I encourage you to check there before making plans. Teachers and organisers are welcome to send changes, and I am glad to receive them.

Talks and recordings

Nothing on this site is uploaded or re-hosted. Films, talks and recordings play from the teacher’s own channel on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts or SoundCloud, and a player only loads once you press play. Ownership, hosting and listening figures stay where they belong.

As with photographs, any recording will be removed on request.

Money

The site costs money to run and at present earns nothing. As things stand today there are no listing fees, no commissions on bookings, no affiliate links and no advertising. Every profile here exists because I chose to write it.

How the site will support itself in the long run is an open question, and I would rather say that plainly than pretend to a certainty I don't have. My hope is that readers who find it useful will help carry the cost through donations. If that turns out not to be enough, some form of paid feature or partnership may become part of how the site survives.

Should that day come, two things will hold. Anything paid for will be marked clearly as such, so that you always know what you are looking at. And money will not buy its way into the editorial selection: which teachers I include, and what the profiles say, will stay independent of who has paid.

This page will be updated before anything changes, not afterwards.

Privacy

I hold no personal information about teachers beyond what they have themselves published. Nothing is gathered privately, and nothing is shared with third parties.
