Tenzin Choegyal

Tenzin Choegyal is a Tibetan musician who lives and works in Australia. He sings, and he plays the dranyen, the Tibetan long-necked lute, and the lingbu, the bamboo flute.

Songs from the Bardo, made with Laurie Anderson and Jesse Paris Smith, takes the Tibetan Book of the Dead as its text and was nominated for a Grammy. He has continued in that direction, with a collaboration with Philip Glass among his recent work, and released Whispering Sky in 2024.

He puts it plainly himself: music is like drifting clouds that fly freely over the man-made geographical borders in this infinite space of possibilities.
