About the teacher

John J. Prendergast

John J. Prendergast, Ph.D., is a retired depth psychotherapist who spent 23 years as an adjunct professor of counseling psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco. His teaching on nondual inquiry and embodied spirituality draws on decades of study with European sage Jean Klein and with Adyashanti, from whom he received formal dharma transmission in 2023; his books include The Deep Heart and Your Deepest Ground.

Together with his wife Christiane, he has offered residential retreats in the United States and, more recently, Europe since 2015, alongside online courses and an ongoing online meditative inquiry group.

Whether we realize it or not, the heart is what we most carefully guard and most want to open.
