Omid Safi holds a professorship in Islamic studies at Duke University and combines that academic grounding with teaching Sufi poetry and practice, most visibly through Illuminated Courses & Tours, which leads pilgrimage-style journeys to sites significant in Sufi and Islamic history. His Sufi Heart podcast extends this teaching to a wider audience.
He leads tours to Morocco in April 2026 and Turkey in June 2026, a Rumi Retreat in Marrakech in November, an Umrah pilgrimage programme in December, and an Omega Institute retreat with Pir Zia Inayat Khan in June 2026.
