Munojat Yulchieva
Uzbek singer born in the Ferghana Valley in 1960, and the foremost living interpreter of the shashmaqam and the Uzbek classical tradition. Her repertoire is the Sufi poetry of divine love carried in the maqam art of Bukhara and Samarkand. Her own name means the intimate prayer addressed to God. She was named People's Artist of Uzbekistan in 1994 and Heroine of Uzbekistan in 2021.
