The Core Principle of a Spiritual Path
Shaykh Burhanuddin Herrmann on the core principle underlying any genuine spiritual path.
Sufism · Sufi Retreats
German Sufi shaykh trained for over three decades under Naqshbandi Grand Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani ar-Rabbani, now leading Sufi Way and teaching the Uwaysi self-realization method through retreats and online sessions worldwide.
Born in Germany, Herrmann invited the Naqshbandi Grand Master to his hometown at age 18 and underwent classical dervish training, including daily meditation and prayer, periods of solitary retreat, and instruction in both inner and outer life, under Maulana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani ar-Rabbani, with whom he travelled for 35 years before being appointed shaykh. From this transmission he developed the Uwaysi System, presented as a modern, universal form of the classical self-realization path; he is also the author of three books and founder of the Dervish Orchestra.
He currently leads Sufi Way, offering retreats, seminars and online masterclasses (including during Ramadan) across Europe and beyond. Confirmed upcoming retreats include Kashmir (August 2026), Finland (September 2026), and two events in Italy (September and November 2026).
“I want to invite you to a new chapter of your life. For the sake of our children, our humanity, our planet Earth, and for ourselves. We need to raise our individual awareness, now.”Shaykh Burhanuddin Herrmann
