About the teacher

Leigh Brasington

Leigh Brasington was a software engineer when he began to study meditation intensively under the German-born Theravada nun Ayya Khema, later editing several of her books. After he retired from computers, he has gone on to author five books of his own on Buddhist meditation and philosophy, including Right Concentration: A Practical Guide to the Jhānas (2015), translated into German, Hungarian, Dutch and Spanish, and The Gradual Training (2024).

He now teaches jhana retreats and workshops internationally, focused on making these classical states of concentration practically accessible to contemporary practitioners.

"What I want to teach is the Jhanas as a meditation technique and how that technique fits into the broader spectrum of sila, samadhi, pannya: morality, concentration, wisdom." — Leigh Brasington, interview at leighb.com/intervu.htm (Cloud Mountain Newsletter interview)
