About the teacher

Kaya Mindlin

Kaya Mindlin describes herself as a householder mystic, and the phrase does real work: she teaches from inside an ordinary life rather than apart from one. She has been teaching for more than twenty-four years, and what she brings together in a single programme is unusually wide — sacred storytelling, devotional recitation, Sanskrit scripture, yoga therapy, Jyotisha and Ayurveda.

Her lineage runs two ways. She is an initiate in tantra and divination in the line of Sri Krishan Mantri, and a steward of the Vedanta teaching tradition with the blessing of her guru, Pujya Swami Dayananda. She is explicit that she teaches what she teaches with her teachers' encouragement, and that the student-teacher relationship is the thing her work is built around rather than a by-product of it.

The embodied side of her teaching is her own: Supreme Release Yoga, a gentle and deeply healing practice that treats the subtle spine as a place of pilgrimage, and which she has made accessible without thinning it out. She ran a yoga therapy institute from 2012 to 2019, has been lead or guest faculty at several yoga and Ayurveda schools, and narrated and co-wrote the audiobook Sita's Gems.

Scriptural study, yoga practice, devotion and community — these are all part of a sacred yātra in which the destination is YOU.
