About the teacher

Jon Kabat-Zinn

Jon Kabat-Zinn founded the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979, developing Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as a structured, secular adaptation of Buddhist meditation for clinical use: the programme that effectively launched the modern mindfulness movement in medicine and psychology. His research helped establish meditation as a subject of serious scientific study rather than only a spiritual practice.

Now an emeritus professor, he keeps a limited public schedule of keynotes, media appearances and podcasts rather than a regular teaching calendar, including a retreat with his son Will Kabat-Zinn at Omega Institute and an IMS retreat for MBSR and MBCT professionals.

Just this moment, just this breath, just this sitting here, just this being human. Just this. Just this.
