Damo Mitchell

Damo Mitchell began training in Japanese and Chinese martial arts as a child and spent much of his adult life in China, South East Asia and India studying Taijiquan, Baguazhang, Xingyiquan and Daoist internal alchemy (Nei Gong) under a number of masters, eventually focusing on Northern Daoist lineages and meditation. He is classically initiated into the Longmen (Dragon Gate) lineage of Daoism and has written around ten books on Daoism and the internal arts.

Damo is technical director of the Lotus Nei Gong International School, which he founded in the UK in 2004, as well as founder of the Internal Arts Academy, an online platform with a structured multi-year syllabus. He now works primarily from the school's current headquarters in Bali, focusing on existing students, the Academy's online curriculum and Zoom events, alongside occasional public events such as a planned 2026 workshop in Glastonbury; in-person training directly with him has become limited, as his flagship Bali programme is currently fully enrolled.
