About the teacher

George Thompson

George Thompson is a filmmaker, storyteller and teacher who went to the Wudang Mountains in China in 2017 and became a disciple of Master Gu, taking the rank of sixteenth-generation lineage holder in the San Fung Pai Tai Chi tradition. Alongside that training he has practised Vipassana, was mentored by the Taoist scholar Deng Ming-Dao, and in 2024 trained with the Tai Chi teacher Chungliang Al Huang.

He runs Balance is Possible, which grew from a Tai Chi school into films, retreats, coaching and the online Taoist Wellness Academy, and reaches an audience of several hundred thousand. His pitch is practical rather than scholarly: ancient practice offered as something usable against modern anxiety and disconnection. Dates are kept at balanceispossible.com/events.

To hurt is to be human. You have big challenges. The struggle is always part of the human condition.
