Carl McColman

Carl McColman holds a BA in English from James Madison University and an MA in Professional Writing and Editing from George Mason University, alongside spiritual training through the Shalem Institute and the Institute for Pastoral Studies in Atlanta. He is a Life-Professed Lay Cistercian at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers, Georgia, and a commissioned Centering Prayer presenter with Contemplative Outreach of North Georgia.

He has authored more than twenty books, including The New Big Book of Christian Mysticism, Read the Bible Like a Mystic, and Befriending Silence, winner of the Georgia Author of the Year award. He co-hosts the Encountering Silence podcast and writes the Radical Mystics newsletter, alongside offering spiritual direction by Zoom and in person in Atlanta.
