Bhagavan Das

Bhagavan Das was born Kermit Michael Riggs in the United States and went east as a young man, staying six years in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka. He is a bhakti yogi, a kirtan singer, a teacher and a writer, and the four are not separable in what he does.

His singing is built on the drone. A single sustained string under a repeated name, held long enough that the repetition stops being repetition, is the shape most of his chanting takes, and it is closer to the wandering sadhu tradition he learned it from than to a concert set.

He continues to teach and counsel alongside Amulya Maa, working with individuals and couples on what they describe as the healing path.
