Batool Begam
Batool Begam sings mand, the classical folk form of Rajasthan, and bhajan. She is from Jaipur, plays the dhol, dholak and tabla, and has performed well beyond India.
That a Muslim singer from Jaipur is known for her bhajans is not an anomaly in Rajasthan but part of how the music there has always worked, and it is much of what her audience hears in her.
