German-born vocalist Deva Premal and English guitarist-composer Miten have performed sacred mantra music together for over three decades, becoming one of the most widely heard voices in contemporary kirtan.
Deva Premal and Miten met in India in the late 1980s and have performed together ever since, setting ancient Sanskrit mantras, including the Gayatri Mantra, to spare, contemplative arrangements that have introduced mantra chanting to a wide international audience well beyond traditional kirtan circles. Their combined discography spans more than two decades of recordings.
They continue to tour extensively worldwide, performing concerts and leading multi-day Gayatri Gathering retreats across Europe, Australia and the Americas.
“Chanting affects our breathing, our nervous system, and even our emotional landscape. The repetition of sacred, energetic sound creates a space inside us.”Deva Premal & Miten
