About the teacher

Girish

Girish came to kirtan by way of jazz, where he first encountered what he describes as unexplainable moments of synchronicity and intuition in improvisation, and five years living as a monk in an ashram, where his study of Sanskrit deepened his understanding of ancient chant. He has since built his work around combining mantra with what he describes drawing on twenty-first century neuroscience research on its effects.

He is the author of Music and Mantras, an interactive toolkit with over ninety minutes of companion audio on personal transformation through chanting, and leads kirtan retreats, harmonium immersion courses, and a sound healing program called Attuned Soundscapes.
