About the teacher

Swami Chidananda

Swami Chidananda first encountered Vedanta as a graduate student at IIT Madras around 1980, and in 1984 joined Swami Chinmayananda's spiritual center in Mumbai to study the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. He was later initiated as a monk within the Hari Bhakta lineage, and has worked as a speaker, writer, and teacher of spiritual topics for nearly four decades.

He founded FOWAI, "Flame of Who Am I," an organization centered on self-inquiry: questioning thought and emotion, rooting out false belief, and shedding inherited conditioning rather than relying on technique alone. His teaching is shared largely through talks and publications distributed via FOWAI's YouTube channel.

It's not enough if we quieten our mind with some technique or the other. We need to Inquire into thought and emotion, root out false beliefs and Negate all prejudice.
