About the teacher

Sebene Selassie

Sebene Selassie trained within the Insight Meditation lineage before becoming a core teacher on the Ten Percent Happier app, bringing a secular, accessible framing to practice while writing and teaching distinctively on belonging, race and identity within predominantly white meditation spaces, most fully in her book You Belong.

She co-leads the 'Meditation Party' retreat with Dan Harris and Jeff Warren at Omega Institute from 16 to 18 October 2026 (in-person and livestreamed), alongside her Ancestors to Elements newsletter and further workshops and retreats.

"You belong" is a declarative statement of truth so I hope to hold a space that allows people to explore for themselves how we can come back to the truth of our belonging—to trust that we have a sacred connection to ourselves and to others and to all things.
