About the teacher

Neem Karoli Baba

Neem Karoli Baba, also known as Maharaj-ji, was a Hindu guru and devotee of Hanuman whose teaching centered on love, service and simple devotion rather than formal doctrine. He established a network of ashrams across northern India, the best known at Kainchi Dham. In the late 1960s he became widely known in the West after Richard Alpert, later known as Ram Dass, studied with him and wrote about the experience in Be Here Now, which introduced many Western seekers to bhakti practice.
