Uday Bhawalkar
Uday Bhawalkar sets texts to music that come from the devotional tradition, among them verses of Adi Shankaracharya, and describes his own practice in terms of darshan: when you are immersed in the note and the raga, the self disappears and the music takes on an existence of its own.
He teaches in Bavdhan, near Pune, and gives workshops and concerts in Europe every year. He received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2021 and the Kalidas Samman for 2023-24.
