Lisa Cairns
Lisa Cairns describes a sudden, unsought shift in understanding in 2011 in Bali that she frames as a direct, non-intellectual recognition of nondual philosophy. Since then she has spoken in a wide range of settings, including bookshops, cafés, yoga centres, universities, schools, NHS facilities, conferences and theatres, presenting nondual ideas without claiming a formal lineage or teacher of her own.
She currently teaches mainly online, hosting a weekly live stream and the Sages Book Club, a small discussion group working through texts from nonduality teachers such as Nisargadatta Maharaj, alongside occasional residential retreats in Europe.
“Suffering is believing you're a separate self that can do or create life, and needs to get pleasure and avoid pain. (from her Buddha at the Gas Pump interview, https://batgap.com/lisa-cairns-interview-transcript/)”Lisa Cairns
