About the teacher

John Astin

John Astin holds a PhD in health psychology and has worked as an adjunct professor of clinical/counseling psychology, publishing academic research on mind-body medicine and the applications of meditative-contemplative practices in healthcare. Alongside this academic career he is a singer-songwriter who has released multiple albums of spiritual-contemplative music, including a recording setting the poetry of non-dual teacher Adyashanti to song, and is the author of five books on presence and inquiry.

He currently teaches through in-person retreats, talks, and concerts in the United States and abroad, a recurring free Sunday online meditation gathering, one-on-one inquiry sessions, and content distributed via platforms such as the Waking Up app.

Every instant of life is a free fall into the most astonishing freedom, openness, subtlety and depth.
