Joel Morwood

Joel Morwood studied with the philosopher-mystic Franklin Merrell-Wolff in Lone Pine, California, and describes his own path to awakening in his spiritual autobiography, Naked Through the Gate. In 1987 he founded the Center for Sacred Sciences in Eugene, Oregon, where he teaches a nondual synthesis drawn from Christian, Buddhist, Vedantic and other mystical traditions; his book The Way of Selflessness was praised by religious scholar Huston Smith.

Morwood remains the Center's spiritual director. It holds public meetings most Sundays in Eugene, Oregon, including meditation, a talk and discussion, open to both in-person and Zoom attendance.
