Ibrahim Ayad
Coptic Orthodox cantor and head deacon at the cathedral in Cairo, and one of the few living authorities on the hymns of the Church of Alexandria. He teaches alhan, the church's chant, at the Higher Institute of Coptic Studies, and has recorded the whole liturgical year on his own so that a tradition reaching back to the first Christian centuries can be handed on rather than remembered.
