About the teacher

Salt of the Sound

Salt of the Sound is the musical collaboration of Anita and Ben Tatlow, a husband-and-wife duo who write songs meant to hold a space open — in a church service, or in someone's own quiet half hour. The sound sits between contemporary worship and ambient music, and belongs comfortably to neither.

They have been recording since 2013 and the catalogue has grown deep rather than loud: a long-running Meditations series, seasonal collections for Lent and Advent, and full albums such as For All The Moments In Between, a record about joy and grief and everything in between, written out of one of the hardest and most life-giving seasons of their own lives. Their Christmas album And on Earth, Peace was named one of the year's five best by Christianity Today in 2019, and their most recent release, everlight, came out in August 2026.

The music has travelled further than the two of them have. It has been played on Disney Plus and BBC radio and used in campaigns by UNICEF, Siemens and TEDx. They now live in Hong Kong, and record as part of Echoes Blue Music.
