The project of Krishna-Trevor Oswalt, moving between ambient, neoclassical and electronic music, best known for Music for Mushrooms, a five-hour album written to accompany a full psilocybin session.
East Forest is Krishna-Trevor Oswalt, who has been recording under the name since 2008 across more than thirty releases. He studied film at Vassar and took an MFA at the Moscow Art Theatre, a background he says still shapes how his concerts are built.
His best-known work is Music for Mushrooms, a five-hour album written to accompany a complete psilocybin session; the documentary of the same name, which he directed and scored, played theatrically in over a hundred markets in 2024. His compositions are also used in clinical research, including studies at UCSF.
He has recorded with Ram Dass and worked with Jon Hopkins, Laraaji, Krishna Das, Peter Broderick and Nick Mulvey, among others. He teaches on the faculty of the Esalen Institute and tours internationally.
