Californian singer and songwriter whose folk writing is layered with electronic production, singing about the living world and our place in it.
Ayla Nereo grew up in Sonoma County and lives in Nevada City, California. Her songs sit between folk and electronic music: layered vocals over acoustic guitar, built up with production rather than a band.
She has released solo albums since Play Me A Time in 2006 through to Sovereign Kin in 2023, and also records as half of Wildlight with The Polish Ambassador, and with the vocal group Starling Arrow.
“I used to be terrified of singing. When I performed, the audience could barely hear me - my voice was so quiet. I would never have believed you if you told me that one day I would be an internationally touring musician. (Ayla Nereo, signed '~Ayla' on aylanereo.com/the-empowered-voice)”Ayla Nereo
