About the teacher

Bhikkhu Bodhi

Born Jeffrey Block in Brooklyn in 1944, Bhikkhu Bodhi received full Theravada ordination in Sri Lanka in 1972-73. He is one of the most widely read English translators of the Pali Canon, including The Middle Length Discourses, The Connected Discourses, and The Numerical Discourses of the Buddha.

He has served as president of the Buddhist Association of the United States since 2013, is abbot at Chuang Yen Monastery in Carmel, New York, and founded Buddhist Global Relief in 2007 to address chronic hunger and its causes. He leads a weekly study course in the Majjhima Nikaya at Bodhi Monastery in New Jersey.
