American theologian and contemplative scholar who founded the Community of a New Monastic Way, extending monastic vows and practice beyond the walls of formal religious orders.
Beverly Lanzetta holds a PhD in theology and has taught at Villanova University, Prescott College and Grinnell College. She founded the Community of a New Monastic Way for single, married, partnered and celibate people committed to a shared contemplative rule of life across traditions, alongside the Desert Interfaith Church, the Interfaith Theological Seminary and the Hesychia School for Spiritual Direction. In 2010 she founded Blue Sapphire Books to publish work on contemplative spirituality and social mysticism.
Her own books include The Monk Within, Radical Wisdom: A Feminist Mystical Theology, Emerging Heart: Global Spirituality and the Sacred, A New Silence, and Nine Jewels of Night. She shares ongoing teaching through weekly meditations, talks and written reflections.
