Ensemble of musicians from several Mongolian peoples of Inner Mongolia, who play the nomadic music of the steppe: khöömei throat singing, the morin khuur or horsehead fiddle, and urtyn duu, the long song. Their songs are about the land, the horses and the life of the herders.
They draw on old and half-forgotten songs from across Inner and Outer Mongolia, much of which had nearly disappeared, and combine traditions that were not usually heard together. A group of this kind was itself new to Inner Mongolia when they began.
“Our music draws from all the Mongol tribes that Genghis Khan unified. We all have different ethnic backgrounds and we bring these influences into our music. There is a wealth of folk music for us to learn, so far our repertoire of songs is like a drop in the ocean. (AnDa Union, About Us, https://andaunion.com/about.php)”Anda Union
