Anandamayi Ma

Anandamayi Ma, born Nirmala Sundari in East Bengal, was known from early adulthood for spontaneous states of spiritual absorption that drew visitors from across India, including prominent political and spiritual figures of her time. She gave few formal teachings, emphasizing simple devotion, service and self-inquiry over doctrine, and never appointed a successor. Ashrams associated with her, collectively known as the Shree Shree Anandamayee Sangha, continue to operate in India today.
