Shunmyō Masuno
Shunmyō Masuno has served as chief priest of Kenkō-ji temple, in the Sōtō Zen lineage, since 2000, following his father as the temple's chief priest. Alongside his temple role, he founded Japan Landscape Consultants in 1982 and has designed Zen gardens worldwide, including at Berlin's Erholungspark Marzahn and Canada's embassy in Tokyo.
He has taught environmental design at Tama Art University since 1998 and has lectured at Cornell, Harvard, and the University of London on the relationship between garden design and Zen thought.
