About the teacher

Shodo Harada Roshi

Shodo Harada Roshi leads One Drop Zen, a global network of Zen centers connected to Gokokuzan Sōgen-ji monastery, where he serves as abbot. He received formal Dharma transmission (inka) in 1983 from Yamada Mumon Roshi in the Rinzai lineage.

He has three formal dharma heirs guiding affiliated monasteries: Daichi Roshi (Tahomasan Sōgen-ji, Washington State), Taikan ShoE Roshi (Hokuozan Sōgen-ji, Germany), and Daishin Sozui Roshi (Yūkoku-ji Monastery, California). Sōgen-ji holds week-long intensive sesshin retreats roughly monthly throughout the year; attendance is generally limited to students who have already trained at an affiliated center.
