Assyrian Georgian monk, priest and liturgical singer, born on 12 July 1978 in Tbilisi, who leads the monastery at Kanda in Georgia, at the church of the Thirteen Assyrian Fathers. Aramaic is his mother tongue, and he celebrates and chants the Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom in it, one of very few priests anywhere who does. The Aramaic Assyrian liturgical line he carries is a tradition of its own, held within the Georgian Orthodox Church.
He comes from a Georgian Assyrian family whose roots lie in historical Mesopotamia, and entered monastic life at twenty-four. In February 2010, with the blessing of Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II, he was ordained deacon, and the Patriarch presented him as spiritual father to the Orthodox Assyrians of Georgia. More than two thousand Assyrians live in the village of Kanda where he serves.
He leads the monastery choir, which keeps the old Aramaic Christian chants, and has sung in Rome, Cologne, Vilnius and Saint Petersburg.
