About the teacher

Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali

Rizwan and Muazzam Mujahid Ali Khan are the nephews of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and were trained by him. When he died in 1997 they were still in their teens, and they took up his work rather than waiting to grow into it.

Qawwali is the devotional music of the Sufis of Pakistan and India, and the tradition they carry runs back more than seven hundred years. Their group records for Real World Records, the label that first brought their uncle to listeners outside South Asia, and their album At the Feet of the Beloved appeared in 2025.
