Bengali mystic and priest (1836–1886) at the Dakshineshwar Kali Temple, whose teaching on the harmony of religions inspired his disciple Swami Vivekananda and the Vedanta movement.
Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa served as priest at the Dakshineshwar Kali Temple near Calcutta, where he practiced intensive devotion to the Divine Mother alongside Vedantic and Tantric disciplines. He taught that the diverse religious paths all lead toward the same reality, a teaching later carried to the West by his foremost disciple, Swami Vivekananda. The monastic order and mission that grew from his circle of students remain active as the Ramakrishna Math and Mission.
