Kashmir Shaivism · Neelakantha Meditation
American scholar-teacher of Kashmir Shaivism and founder of Blue Throat Yoga, teaching Neelakantha Meditation within the non-dual Śākta Śaiva Tantra tradition.
Paul Muller-Ortega is a meditation practitioner and teacher of nearly fifty years' standing and a former academic (he held a professorship in Religious Studies at Michigan State University); his scholarly book The Triadic Heart of Śiva, on the Kaula lineage of Kashmir Shaivism, is a standard academic reference in the field. He founded Blue Throat Yoga in 2006 to teach Neelakantha Meditation, a contemporary form of Tantric practice, and has spent the last decade focused on training long-term teachers within that community.
He currently offers meditation initiations, online satsangs and courses through Blue Throat Yoga's calendar, alongside occasional in-person gatherings led by senior teachers he has trained.
