About the teacher

Michael James

Michael James travelled to India in 1976 and settled in Tiruvannamalai, where for eight and a half years until 1985 he studied closely with Sri Sadhu Om, a direct disciple of Ramana Maharshi, working through original Tamil texts including Guru Vācaka Kōvai and Upadēśa Undiyār. He has since translated and written extensively on Ramana's teachings, including Nāṉ Yār? (Who am I?) and the book Happiness and the Art of Being.

He currently leads free online satsangs for the Ramana Maharshi Foundation UK on the second and last Saturday of each month via Zoom, explaining Ramana's verses and answering questions from participants.
