Lama Zopa Rinpoche

Lama Zopa Rinpoche was born in Thami, Nepal, and recognized in early childhood as the reincarnation of a local lama. Together with his teacher Lama Thubten Yeshe, he founded Kopan Monastery near Kathmandu and, from it, the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT), which grew into a global network of centers, monasteries and projects. After Lama Yeshe's death in 1984 he continued to lead FPMT until his own death in 2023.
