About the teacher
Lama Thubten Yeshe
Lama Thubten Yeshe trained at Sera Monastery in Tibet before fleeing to Nepal following the 1959 uprising. Together with his student Lama Zopa Rinpoche he established Kopan Monastery near Kathmandu, which became a center for teaching Buddhism to Western students, and from there founded the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT). He taught extensively across the West until his death in 1984.
