Lama Rod Owens

Lama Rod Owens completed traditional Kagyu training and holds the title of lama, while teaching in a distinctly contemporary register, addressing trauma, race, masculinity and rage directly through the lens of Buddhist practice, most visibly in his book Love and Rage. His teaching moves fluidly between formal meditation instruction and frank discussion of lived experience.

He keeps a full 2026 schedule including monthly daylong retreats in Atlanta, a weekly Medicine Buddha gathering, retreats at Kripalu, a week-long hybrid retreat at Wonderwell, and a talk in London on 6 October 2026.
