About the teacher

Eli Jaxon-Bear

Born Elliot Jay Zeldow in Brooklyn in 1947, Jaxon-Bear explored traditions ranging from Zen to Sufism before meeting Papaji, a direct disciple of Ramana Maharshi, in India in 1990. He was previously known for pioneering work on the psychological dimension of the Enneagram, teaching Enneagram and clinical-hypnosis trainings at Esalen Institute in the 1980s, and is the author of several books including The Enneagram of Liberation: From Fixation to Freedom.

He currently leads worldwide events through the Leela School/Leela Foundation from his base in Ashland, Oregon, including a recurring online "Leela Saturday" meeting, in-person retreats and open meetings at Jackson Wellsprings in Ashland, a therapist-training program that includes trauma-focused work, and retreats abroad including in the Netherlands, Australia and Japan.
