American teacher of awakening, author and nonprofit founder based on Whidbey Island, Washington, known for founding Peace in Schools, the first for-credit mindfulness class in U.S. public high schools, and for blending eight years of Zen monastic training with a relational, nondual teaching style.
Caverly Morgan began contemplative practice in 1995 and spent eight years training in a silent Zen monastery before starting to teach in 2001. She went on to found Peace in Schools and later Presence Collective (now folded into Realizing Freedom Together), and is the author of The Heart of Who We Are: Realizing Freedom Together (Sounds True) and A Kids Book About Mindfulness. Her work has been featured in Mindful magazine and The New York Times.
She currently teaches through weekly online "Tuesday Morning Sits," retreats and workshops at venues such as InsightLA, NY Insight and Drala Mountain Center, on-demand courses, and consulting for schools and organizations.
