About the teacher

Catherine Ingram

Catherine Ingram spent fifteen years as a journalist covering consciousness and activism before turning fully to teaching. She co-founded the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts (1976), and in 1995 founded the nonprofit Living Dharma, through which she has led public Dharma Dialogues since 1992, gatherings centered on the intelligent use of attention in daily life and community. Her books include In the Footsteps of Gandhi, Passionate Presence and the novel A Crack in Everything.

Her 2019 long-form essay "Facing Extinction," on meeting ecological collapse without denial, was downloaded more than a million times and led to a 2021 TED talk. She currently teaches mainly through periodic Zoom Dharma Dialogues, a podcast ("In the Deep"), video dialogues and private phone sessions; announcements go out primarily via her email list rather than a fixed calendar.

Freedom is simply to know that what we are is pure awareness.
