About the teacher
Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche
Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche was recognized as an incarnation of Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo and trained extensively in the Nyingma tradition before China's invasion of Tibet forced him into exile. From Bhutan, India and Nepal, he devoted the following decades to preserving and transmitting Tibetan Buddhist teachings, texts and lineages that had been threatened with extinction, becoming one of the most widely respected teachers of his generation across all schools of Tibetan Buddhism.
He died in 1991. His life and work are documented in the film The Spirit of Tibet, narrated by Richard Gere, which also features the Dalai Lama.
