Oscar-Winning Screenwriter Bruce Rubin Talks About His Life
Bruce Joel Rubin discusses Brainstorm, Ghost and Jacob's Ladder.
Yoga & Tantra · Screenwriter & meditation
Academy Award-winning American screenwriter (Ghost, Jacob's Ladder) who has taught weekly meditation classes for decades, rooted in his practice with teacher Rudi (Albert Rudolph).
Rubin's spiritual path began after an early psychedelic experience sent him traveling through Greece, Turkey, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan, and living in ashrams, a Tibetan monastery and Buddhist temples across Asia. Back in New York he met his primary teacher, Rudi (Albert Rudolph), a kundalini-yoga teacher whose tantra-inflected approach to energy and surrender Rubin describes as having merged his spiritual and creative life into "one unfolding."
He continues to teach a weekly Sunday meditation class and talk over Zoom, free of charge but by invitation only after contacting him directly; recordings of his talks dating back to 2005 are publicly available on his website and YouTube channel.
“The ultimate climax of a real story is awakening from story. And that's the great journey for all of us.”Bruce Joel Rubin
