“Music is indispensable to me; it sets the rhythm of every moment of my days, of my life. I live with it, for it. I cannot imagine existing without it. It is my link to my native land, my family, my friends - it is everything to me.”Waed Bouhassoun
Syrian singer and oud player, born in 1979 in a Druze village in the south of Syria and living in Paris. She sings classical and mystical Arabic poetry with a low alto voice and her own oud, in arrangements stripped back far enough to leave the words standing.
